The association of allergic rhinitis severity with neutrophil僕ymphocyte and platelet僕ymphocyte ratio in children

Purpose: To investigate the relationship between the severity of allergic rhinitis (AR) and neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) and platelet-lymphocyte ratio (PLR) in pediatric patients.
Methods: This study is a retrospective cross-sectional observational study inclding 200 AR patients and 160 healthy controls. Of the patients, 39 % were boys with a mean age of 10.5 years. Study included children with persistent and intermittent AR. Of the controls, 50.6 % were boys with a mean age of 10.3 years. We compared NLR and PLR from blood test between study and control groups. They were also compared according to AR severity within the patient group.
Results: The NLR was 1,64ア1,29 in the study group whereas 1,18ア0,31 in the control group. The PLR was 102,72ア31,20 in the study group whereas 79,36ア11,72 in the control group. When NLR and PLR were compared between groups, we found statistically significant differences in both NLR and PLR (p=0.003, p=0.001, respectively). We found a statistically significant difference when comparing both NLR and PLR in patients with intermittent and persistent AR. These rates increased with disease severity (p=0.000, p=0.000, respectively).
Conclusion: Both NLR and PLR are useful markers for the diagnosis and severity of AR. Clinicians can use these markers to assess disease severity in pediatric patients at the beginning of the diagnostic process.

Ama: Pediyatrik hastalarda alerjik rinit (AR) iddeti ile ntrofil-lenfosit oran (NLO) ve trombosit-lenfosit oran (PLR) arasndaki ilikiyi aratrmak.
Metod: Bu 軋lma, 200 AR hastas ve 160 salkl kontrol i軻ren retrospektif kesitsel gzlemsel bir 軋lmadr. Hastalarn %39'u erkek ve ortalama ya 10.5 idi. ヌalma, persistan ve aralkl AR'li 輟cuklar i軻riyordu. Kontrollerin %50,6's, ortalama yalar 10.3 olan erkek 輟cuklard. ヌalma ve kontrol gruplar arasnda kan testinden elde edilen NLR ve PLR'yi karlatrdk. Hasta grubu i輅nde AR iddetine gre de karlatrld.
Sonu輙ar: NLR 軋lma grubunda 1,64ア1,29 iken kontrol grubunda 1,18ア0,31 idi. PLR 軋lma grubunda 102,72ア31,20 iken kontrol grubunda 79,36ア11,72 idi. Gruplar arasnda NLR ve PLR karlatrldnda, hem NLR hem de PLR'de istatistiksel olarak anlaml farkllklar bulduk (srasyla p=0,003, p=0,001). Aralkl ve persistan AR'li hastalarda hem NLR hem de PLR'yi karlatrrken istatistiksel olarak anlaml bir fark bulduk. Bu oranlar hastalk iddeti ile art gsterdi (srasyla p=0.000, p=0.000).
Sonu: Hem NLR hem de PLR, AR'nin tans ve iddeti i輅n faydal belirte輙erdir. Klinisyenler, tan srecinin balangcnda pediatrik hastalarda hastalk iddetini deerlendirmek i輅n bu belirte輙eri kullanabilir. (NCI-2021-10-15/R1)
